![]() Despite their rough start to this series, they entered it after beating a superior Phillies team in back-to-back games. His presence itself should be a great boost after they were forced to start relief pitcher Brett Martin yesterday. ![]() He was projected to start Saturday’s game after being placed on the Covid-19 list on Wednesday, but was not ready to return. Even if they don’t quite match Atlanta’s numbers, they should produce enough run support for Glenn Otto. ![]() Granted that was against a hot Braves team, but the Rangers still have some great hitters in Adolis Garcia and Corey Seager. He began his career by giving up 7 runs off of 3 home runs in just 4.0 innings of work. It’s going to be just his 3rd career start, so not much should be expected from the youngster. That is something that should drastically improve with the Nationals sending Jackson Tetreault to the mound. Texas was still upset due to their lack of run production. It hasn’t been all bad, as Dane Dunning provided a quality start in the series opener. However, they should prove why they’ve been favored this weekend by ending the series with a win. Playable at that number.*ĭespite being the favorites throughout this series, the Rangers have not looked nearly as convincing as anticipated. *Blue Jays ML at -130 available at time of publishing. The Blue Jays won all 3 of those games and should help Berrios get his 6th win on Sunday. Toronto’s Jose Berrios can be shaky for sure, but he’s also given the team at least 7.0 innings in 3 of his 4 starts this month. It will be a great relief in comparison to facing Burnes like they had to on Saturday afternoon. They were able to produce when Teoscar Hernandez missed time earlier this season, and should do so against Gonzalez’s 7.36 ERA. Regardless, the Jays have a potent top of the lineup even without George Springer. Obviously the relievers coming in behind him will be different, but Milwaukee’s bullpen is not significantly better than Minnesota’s. Gonzalez’s first start of the season was against Toronto, and he was pulled rather early as he allowed 3 runs in just 3.0 innings. This start against the Blue Jays also doesn’t bode well for the Brewers. Combined with his starts for Minnesota, he’s allowed 9 runs in just 11.0 innings. The division-rival Cardinals hit him early and often, scoring 2 quick runs in the 1st inning and adding on a 3rd run in the 4th inning before Gonzalez was pulled. He proved why the Rockies let him go and why the Twins no longer wanted him this season with his first start for the Brewers. Milwaukee’s Corbin Burnes may be in the Cy Young conversations, but newly acquired Chi Chi Gonzalez is about as far from that as one can get. The Brewers may be known for having a great pitching staff, but Sunday’s series finale does not look set to prove that. *White Sox -1.5 at +105 available at time of publishing. While he may not completely shut out the Orioles lineup, he should keep them in check well enough to end the series with a win. He hasn’t allowed a single earned run in any of his last 5 starts. Those wins have largely been off the back of Cease’s pitching as well. That includes ones against other, superior AL East teams in the Blue Jays and Rays just this month. Unlike Lyles, the White Sox have won 7 of his last 10 starts. They may not have had the best week, but they should still perform well enough to support Cease on Sunday. That doesn’t bode well for a Chicago team whose lineup has the ability to produce runs in bunches. In this month alone, Lyles has allowed at least 4 runs in all but one of his starts. Within that stretch, the Orioles lost to the Nationals, Tigers, and the Royals twice. They have lost 7 of his last 9 starts, the majority of which were to some of the worst teams in the league. They’ll have an experienced arm in Jordan Lyles for this game, but that still isn’t the best news for Baltimore. That’s largely due to Dylan Cease being on the mound for the finale and the Orioles’ biggest concern being their starting pitching. Despite all of their injuries this season, they’ve remained relevant in the AL Central and they should stay in the hunt by getting a win on Sunday. After the Orioles pulled off some surprising upsets, the White Sox should be able to salvage what they can out of this series.
